The excitement continues to build in Americus & Sumter County as hundreds turned out to celebrate the opening of Phoebe Sumter's new Women's & Family Health Center.
The Ribbon Cutting & Open House Ceremony Open House gave the community a chance to tour the 16,600 square foot building that houses OB/GYNs Patricia Fennessy, MD; Buddy Marshall, MD and Jocelyn Rogers, MD as well as Family Medicine physicians Malcolm Floyd, MD; Bret Law, MD and Michael Raines, MD. Moms all over Sumter County and Southwest Georgia can now have their annual mammogram and bone density scan, get their toddler immunized and visit their family physician or gynecologist-all under one roof. The facility officially opens for business on Monday, December 20th.
The other two support buildings, the Oncology & Surgery Center and Wellness & Education Center (orthopedics, wellness, fitness and education), are both scheduled to open in early 2011. There will be specific activities and events for the opening of these clinics as well, and information will be given early next year regarding the details.
Construction on a brand-new, state of the art new hospital is expected completed by the end of 2011. The new Phoebe Sumter Medical Center will be four stories and feature 76 beds as well as state of the art equipment, and according to CEO Keith Petersen, it will be "the finest small hospital in America"
While the new four-story, 76-bed state of the art medical facility is under construction, the existing medical center on Forsyth Street continues to provide medical services.
